Fort Mill, South Carolina, February 18, 2010. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (“Continental”) today announced that John Barnes has been named head of LifeCycle Activities for Commercial Vehicle Tires in the Americas.
Barnes, the Commercial Vehicle Tire division’s former business development manager, has been overseeing the sourcing, construction and management of Continental’s new ContiTread retread plants in Mexico. A total of 14 of these plants are expected to open throughout Mexico by 2011 – three of which are already in operation.
“Because of John’s leadership in getting our ContiTread plants off the ground in Mexico, I am confident that his knowledge will benefit all markets of the Americas, where we strive to bring the lowest overall driving costs to our customers,” said Paul Williams, executive vice president of truck tires – the Americas.
Barnes will report directly to Williams in this new role and will be based from Continental’s headquarters for the Americas in Fort Mill, S.C.
