Guayaquil, Ecuador, March 30, 2011. Continental Tire Andina opens a new retreading plant in Ecuador located in the city of Guayaquil, the main port of Ecuador. The inauguration took place Tuesday 22 of March, 2011 in the plant facilities at 19h00 where directors of the company, distributors, subdistributors, authorities and friends who joined to see the new plant. Continental promotes this new plant with the concept of “Planta tu Futuro” meaning Plant your Future.
This new plant has the most advanced technology in Latin America for retreading. This plant will be a source to help reduce the costs of commercial vehicles fleets operation, and increase the amount of tire retreading with faster return of product in the area. A tire can obtain a retread, after completing the first life cycle, preserving the same product characteristics. This is true as long as this process is carried out under strict quality standards as those granted by Continental Tire Andina.
This process is performed in several countries like Japan and the United States. Moreover, this alternative is an important contribution in terms of environmental pollution solutions as we collaborate with the reduction of solid waste, decrease CO2 emissions and generate significant energy savings in gallons of oil.

This is the second plant that Renovallanta has in Ecuador. The first plant is located in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where they retread 48,000 tires per year. This new retread plant has an strategic location which will support the coast and south part of the country, having a more effective and faster service for the final customer. A third phase of this retreading expansion will come soon with a retread plant in Cuenca, where Continental Tire Andina plant is located.
The retread plant began working this past Monday 28, and plans to have 24,000 tires retread per year. During the second half of this year Renovallanta will have a full retreading service with ContiTread giving Continental Tire customers a more advance and original tread as the tire bought.
This plant will help give a better and faster service to all the Ecuadorians, opening with a successful event.
